PermaTie Composite Railroad Ties Facts

RTI's clientele currently includeds Class l Freight, Regional, Local Short Line and Transit railroads as well as Dept. of Defense/Military railroad construction contractors.

RTI's PermaTie^TM composite ties have been continuously tested on Transportation Technology Center's railroad test track for over 650 MGT and surpass all prescribed AREMA and ASTM standards for engineered composite railroad ties.

MOR, MOE and accelerated weathering and aging tests were performed on RTI's composite railroad ties at University of Illinois by Poo Chow, Ph.D.

Unlike chemically treated wood ties, spike pullout resistivity increases over the life of PermaTie^TM crossties.

PermaTie^TM composite ties are completely compatible with wood tie rail systems.

Unlike chemically treated wood crossties, PermaTie^TM composite railroad ties do not conduct electricity. PermaTies^TMhave virtually no moisture content, and although they possess rugged AREMA compliant strength, Permaties^TM do not rely upon any conductive metal or concrete components for structural strength as do some other composite ties. Permaties^TM are electrically non-conductive thereby diminishing railroads' problems with stray current corrosion and interference with proper track circuit and signalling operation.

Unlike other composite ties, Permatie^TM composite crossties do not require any pre-drilling of holes prior to hydraulic or pneumatic spiking (cut or screw spikes) and do not/will not crack or split during any type of conventional mechanical or manual spiking.

RTI implements a regimen of scheduled and unscheduled spot testing. All Permaties^TM are numbered and serialized, and two out of every one hundred PermaTies^TM manufactured are tested for quality assurance; one pre-determined and one at random.

RTI procures its recyclable plastic feedstock from the best post-agricultural plastics available. A significant factor in RTI maintaining a superb level of quality control is the strict sourcing of only/all requisite raw plastics materials, for processing and tie manufacturing, directly from ag enterprises.

PermaTie^TM engineered ties are made exclusively with quality, UV protected, recycled, agricultural plastics and a common mineral filler; no other miscellaneous fillers or extraneous ingredients.
